Old House Journal, launched as a newsletter in 1973, is the original magazine devoted to restoring and preserving old houses: it's "the bible of old-house restoration," according to the New York Times. Our mission always has been to help homeowners and restoration pros better understand older houses--their history and style as well as how to assess, repair, restore, and decorate them. Great advice is given on necessary upgrades including kitchen design and energy improvements. Product coverage by the editors is extensive, wide-ranging, and informational. Many people building "new old houses" also turn to OHJ for ideas and authenticity.
